Hibernian defender Lewis Stevenson has described the number of managers the club has gone through in recent years as "farcical".

Colin Calderwood this week succeeded John Hughes to become Hibs' fifth manager in just over four years.

"It's getting almost farcical the amount of managers we've had as this will be my fifth boss," he said.

"I think the players have a bit of responsibility, maybe they need to change the players and not managers."

Stevenson - like 15 other Hibees - is in the final year of his Easter Road deal and has found top-team appearances hard to come by in recent years - particularly under Hughes.

But, the 22-year-old got his first action of the season under interim coach Alastair Stevenson, playing the full 90 minutes in the 2-1 win over Kilmarnock.

And he admits to having sympathy for Hughes and his assistant Brian Rice who parted from the club after a poor start to the campaign.

"It's easy to change the manager because the club can't really get rid of the players," he added.
