The Scottish Football Association have confirmed they are investigating Allan McGregor's alleged kick out at Aberdeen's Chris Maguire.

Rangers keeper McGregor has been referred to Hampden's disciplinary committee following an incident in the 3-2 win at Pittodrie played nearly two weeks ago.

The timing of the investigation is even more puzzling as McGregor is currently preparing for Scotland's crunch Euro 2012 qualifier against Czech Republic in Prague.

The 28-year-old, currently away on international duty, could receive a one-match ban for the incident, which took place at Pittodrie last month.

An SFA spokesman stated on Friday: "We can confirm an investigation has been initiated into an incident not witnessed by the match official."

A disciplinary panel will discuss the matter in Glasgow on Friday.

McGREGOR HIT WITH ONE-GAME BAN

Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor has been handed a one-match suspension by the Scottish Football Association.

McGregor was found guilty of violent conduct during the Clydesdale Bank Premier League match against Aberdeen at Pittodrie on September 26 following an incident with Chris McGuire, the SFA have confirmed.

The keeper, who played for Scotland in last night's 1-0 Euro 2012 qualifying defeat to the Czech Republic in Prague, had been charged after aiming a kick at the Dons striker during the 3-2 victory for Rangers.

He has also had 12 disciplinary points added to his record.

The incident was not spotted at the time by any of the match officials but it was brought to the attention of the SFA who convened a video review panel during the week.

McGregor and Rangers were informed of the decision by recorded delivery post and email on Saturday and have seven days to appeal.

McGregor is set to miss next weekend's SPL clash with Motherwell.
