Celtic midfielder Beram Kayal will visit a specialist on Wednesday as he looks to avoid a lengthy period on the sidelines through injury.
But the Glasgow club stress that reports of a three-month absence with a hernia problem are inaccurate.
"The player only underwent investigations on Friday, when he had some scans, and he will see a specialist in Yorkshire," they said.
"Once we have more information, we will get a better guideline."
Israel midfielder Kayal has made five appearances for Celtic since signing from Maccabi Haifa for £1.2m in the summer.
But the 22-year-old has not featured since a 2-1 win away to Kilmarnock on 19 September and reports had suggested that he had suffered a recurrence of a hernia problem.
Celtic also stressed that Niall McGinn was back in training after a broken bone in his foot suffered during the summer and would be fit to challenge for a first-team place once he returns from international duty with Northern Ireland.
Fellow winger Paddy McCourt was forced to pull out the Northern Ireland squad for the Euro 2012 qualifiers with Italy and the Faroe Islands after failing to recover from a shoulder injury.
However, Celtic expect him to return to training following the weekend along with defender Thomas Rogne, who had suffered "a very slight calf strain".
Emilio Izaguirre is expected to join them on the training ground following a thigh injury that forced the Honduras defender out of Celtic's last two games.
Forward James Forrest and defender Charlie Mulgrew are also close to a return.
"James Forrest is making good progress from his ankle injury and the club are hopeful that he will train at some point in the following week," Celtic said on their website.
"The medical team are also hopeful that Charlie Mulgrew will return to training next week following a hamstring strain."
