BBC

Kris Boyd says his future at Rangers could depend on whether Walter Smith is still manager at the end of the season.

The striker's contract expires in the summer and he has yet to agree a new deal, while Smith's future at the cash-strapped Ibrox club is also unclear.

"He'll have a big influence on it," said Boyd of his contract talks.

"He's a manager I want to play under, he's shown faith in me, so I would like to keep paying him back for showing faith in me by scoring goals."

A number of clubs from around Europe have been linked with 26-year-old Boyd, including Hertha Berlin and Galatasaray.

He's a manager I want to play under. He's shown faith in me, so I would like to keep paying him back for showing faith in my by scoring goals.

And former Rangers manager Alex McLeish, who lured Boyd from Kilmarnock to Ibrox, has maintained an interest in taking the Scottish Premier League's top goalscorer to Birmingham City.

I think the Gers will try all that is possible to keep KB @ the shoe box, if it wasn't for him this season they could even be behind us in the league  wink

Why would he want to leave. He scores goals and gets treated like a legend with the team he loves.

Indeed. He is a rangers bloke and does the business for them. Unfortunately. I guess any future move will be down to £ reasons. Gers may want to sell,  but transfers have to include the signature of the player and I doubt that KB wants to go.   huh

As CambCelt says it's all about the ££££££'s at the end of the day. I think he could at least double his wages if he went even to a Championship side, and if he was lucky enogh to be picked up by an EPL side his money would tripple. And there will always be an open door if he wanted to come back to the shoebox, if he's stint down South didn'y work out.

The return to Ipox happened for Bazza after his sojourn to Blackburn, so I can envisage Boyd going to Brum or wherever and still coming back to Gers later. Just about the ££, I guess.

If/when (delete as appropriate) we win the league this year then there's a better chance of him leaving i think.

Personally, I'd like him to leave!  Celtic Scarf

But he could well be one of the lads that win the title for Rangers  head banger this season. He's well useful at putting the ball in the onion-bag...
