Is it something to do with when they unified Prussia, Saxony and other states they took the colour of the biggest to be the home kit, and the second to be the away kit  huh

This isn't the myth, that they play in green, because it is the colour of Ireland, and it's a way of a thankyou, for while staying neutral during WW2, Ireland still had UBoats hold up in it's harbours  huh

Well you could question if it is a myth or not but ireland were the first team after WW2 to play in Germany. Myth or not that is why they are supposed to have chosen green.
