Carlisle United have signed Leeds United forward Mike Grella on a one-month loan deal.

The 23-year-old former United States Under-20 international joined Leeds in February 2009, but has been limited to just two appearances this season.

"He's young, full of energy, and wants to play football," Carlisle manager Greg Abbott told the club website.

"His opportunities have been limited so he will come here and we think that'll give us something a bit different."

Grella's arrival at Carlisle could see fellow striker Jason Price leave Brunton Park.

"With Jason possibly going to Bradford and Mike coming to us we think that this will be a big benefit to all three clubs and to the players involved," added Abbott.

"We can now take a look at him and assess the situation in November."

Leeds boss Simon Grayson told his club's website: "This is an opportunity for Mike to play regular football because opportunities have been limited for him this season.

"Carlisle are doing well in League One so this is a chance for him to play some good games at a competitive level."
