Port Vale's Tommy Fraser says he is happy to play a new role in the team after making his first league start of the season.

The 22-year-old, who has played most of his Vale career in the centre of midfield, played on the right against Bradford on Saturday.

"I made about 100 appearances at Brighton and probably 60, 70 were on the right," he told BBC Radio Stoke.

"I've played there before, it's something I do enjoy."

Having missed part of pre-season through injury Fraser had not started a League Two match before Saturday's trip to Valley Parade.

"It's been a long season so far trying to get back," he said.

"It's always hard to enjoy it as much as the boys that are playing but I got a game on Saturday and think it went quite well."

Fraser made 38 appearances in the league last season and played much of the campaign as captain.

In his absence Vale won three of their opening five games to sit fourth in the table and Fraser admits that while he has enjoyed the squad's success, he only really felt a part of it after Saturday's 2-0 win at Valley Parade.

"I'd be lying if I said that win didn't mean the most to me, it was nice but I've celebrated every win whether I've played no part or a little part," he said.

Seems to enjoy playing on the right

Not my favourite option, drifts far too much inside, and even ended up at left back at one point, all whilst playing right wing.

got the ability to be a brilliant footballer, if only he would play the first pass that is available, he see's it, has a look for someone else, then either get caught in possession or passes it to the original target, who is now closed down

"It's about the blokes, our men and women of the Armed Forces. It's about Derek, a rugby player who has lost both his legs, it's about Carl whose jaw is wired up so he has been drinking through a straw. About Richard who was handed a mobile phone as he lay on the stretcher so he could phone home"
