Striker Jake Speight, who is on loan at Port Vale from Bradford, says that the Valiants are fitter than the Bantams.

The 25-year-old moved to Vale Park on a month-long deal last week and made his debut for Micky Adams' side in Tuesday's 0-0 draw with Burton.

"I'm naturally quite fit but there is a big difference from Bradford to here fitness wise," the former Mansfield man told BBC Radio Stoke.

"I think I'm going to have to do some work to get me up to speed."

Speight added: "I enjoyed my debut, I was disappointed not to get on the scoresheet. After half-time I slowed down a bit and looked a little bit flat.

"I think the fitness will come with games, I'll be coming in on Thursday and Friday and I'll do a little bit over the weekend."

Speight, who became the 1000th player to make a Vale debut in the game at the Pirelli Stadium, is not eligible to play in the Valiants' FA Cup tie with Dartford on Saturday because of the terms of his loan.
