Saw the opening night of the UK leg of Muse's 'The Resistance' tour last night, and totally out did themselves.

Despite a nightmare with traffic in Sheffield and no parking anywhere, we got there in time for a quick beer (£3.50 for 440ml) before Muse came on.

The three central speaker/light towers's fronts all blew off, revealing Muse on each of the three raised Platforms. They opened with a soaring rendition of 'Uprising' and straight into 'Hysteria' before the platforms lowered.

The platforms rose twice more, for a stirring performance of new single, 'Undisclosed Desires' with Bellamy seated at a laser clad grand piano.

Two hours and an encore later, they ended with the three part 'Exogenesis: Symphony' and a particularly heavy version of 'Knights of Cydonia' then with a huge burst of pyrotechnic smoke, they were gone.

Everybody should see at least one live Muse performance, if not for the vast array of noises that the three of them create, but for the visual, mental and spiritual experience.

"It's about the blokes, our men and women of the Armed Forces. It's about Derek, a rugby player who has lost both his legs, it's about Carl whose jaw is wired up so he has been drinking through a straw. About Richard who was handed a mobile phone as he lay on the stretcher so he could phone home"

Couldn't agree more. Best band I've seen live.

What an awesome concert that was.

Definitely the best live band i've seen, especially at a big venue!
