sky sports No nerves for Favre
Brett Favre does not think he will be struck down by nerves as he makes his first appearance in Green Bay as a visiting quarterback, when the Minnesota Vikings face the Packers on Sunday.
The huge divisional battle between the Vikings and Packers always has plenty of feeling, but this week will be an extra special event, which is live on Sky Sports 2.
After 16 seasons and a Super Bowl win, future Hall of Famer Favre is a legend around Green Bay, but he will enter historic Lambeau Field as a visiting player for the first time on Sunday.
Although he left two seasons ago, the New York Jets did not visit Lambeau last year and he will ironically make his first guest appearance at the stadium playing for Green bay's fierce rivals Minnesota.
The 40-year-old has already come through his first game against his old team with flying colours, as he threw three touchdowns during the Vikings' 30-23 win on October 5.
But running out on his old turf in front of the fans that adored him for so long will be a different story, although Favre does not think he will be as nervous as in his first game for Minnesota.
Nerves
"I don't think it'll be as bad," Favre said. "But I don't know that. I think that's probably more intriguing to everyone else."
Brushing aside all the emotion that will come up on Sunday, Favre is focusing on the game itself, as the Vikings look to bounce back from their first loss of the season last week with a win against their NFC North rivals.
"To me, being able to focus, being relaxed, kind of seeing things clearly as they're happening is a much better and more productive way to play," Favre added.
"Being nervous and having anxiety and things like that, I don't think can be a plus when you're in a decision-making role."
As for what kind of reception Favre will receive from his former followers, Packers coach Mike McCarthy could not guarantee a warm welcome.
"I think our fans here in Green Bay are first class, and I think they'll do what they feel is appropriate," McCarthy said.
Favre has insisted his Green Bay legacy should not be erased by him playing for Minnesota, but either way he would not be losing sleep about those Packer fans who will now turn on him.
"If you're a true fan, you're a true fan," he said. "The people that have jumped ship or whatever completely, what can I do? There was always Brett Favre haters out there, and that will never change."
