The Buffalo Bills have traded running back Marshawn Lynch to the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for undisclosed draft picks.

Lynch, the 12th overall selection in the 2007 draft, has rushed for 164 yards on 34 carries during the Bills' 0-4 start to the season.

"Marshawn has worked hard and played hard for us this season and we certainly appreciate his efforts," Buffalo general manager Buddy Nix said in a statement.

"We are constantly evaluating our personnel and feel that this is a good move for our team's future."

In 45 games with the Bills, Lynch totalled 2,765 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns as well as 670 receiving yards and one touchdown.

The 24-year-old, who pleaded guilty to a traffic violation in 2008 and a misdemeanor gun charge in 2009, went to the Pro Bowl in 2008.

The Seahawks are entering their bye week and will play their next game on October 17 at the Chicago Bears.

They have released Julius Jones, their top rusher during the past two seasons, to make roster room for Lynch.

The National Football League (NFL) today announced that My Chemical Romance will perform the official pre-game entertainment for the NFL Pepsi Max International Series game on Sunday 31st October, at Wembley Stadium.

The band will prepare the 85,000 strong crowd of fans for the clash between home team, the San Francisco 49ers and the Denver Broncos.

Their performance will open with the forthcoming single, 'Na Na Na (Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na)', which is the first track to be taken from their eagerly anticipated new album 'Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys', which will follow on 22nd November. The band will also perform fan favourite 'Welcome to the Black Parade', the title track from their hugely successful 2006 album 'The Black Parade.'

My Chemical Romance are the latest in a host of big-name stars who have performed at the pre-game show at Wembley. Previous Pepsi Max NFL International Series fixtures over the last three years have welcomed the likes of Calvin Harris, Katherine Jenkins, The Stereophonics, Joss Stone, Ne-Yo and The Feeling.

My Chemical Romance frontman, Gerard Way, commented, "Performing to 85,000 fellow NFL fans will be one of the highlights of our European tour - we're thrilled to be playing to such a huge crowd in such an iconic venue."

Alistair Kirkwood, Managing Director of NFL UK said "My Chemical Romance follow in the footsteps of a fantastic pedigree of acts to have performed for the pre-game at Wembley. We can't think of a better way to get the crowd in the mood for the big game."

The Titans thought that Randy Moss was just too good to pass up twice.

So they didn't.

After skipping Moss in the 1998 draft, Tennessee claimed him off the waiver wire Wednesday.

"Timing is everything," coach Jeff Fisher told The Associated Press on Wednesday night. "I really think the quicker we get him on the field, the longer he's here, the more productive he'll be. We think that he can help us, and I'm looking forward to seeing him run under those deep balls."

The Titans didn't seem to be the front-runner to get Moss, ranking 23rd among NFL teams in the waiver system. But Tennessee was the only team to put in a claim on the talented, but much-traveled wideout.

Concerned about Moss' character in 1998, Tennessee, then the Oilers, drafted Kevin Dyson with the 16th pick overall instead. "Randy has had a terrific career. He's a Hall of Fame receiver. You don't always make the right decision," Fisher said. "The draft is an imperfect science. We've had No. 1's that haven't panned out for us before."

Fisher said this time the Titans did their "due diligence" on Moss. That included talking to Moss and former teammates such as current Titans backup quarterback Kerry Collins. Fisher said Moss was excited about the move, and the NFL's longest-tenured coach isn't concerned about how the 13-year veteran, now with his third team this season, will fit in.

"Randy's been a good teammate, and he's very popular. I think this is a great opportunity for him. It's a fresh start," Fisher said. "We've got a great locker room. They'll accept him. I'm confident he'll accept his new teammates as well."

Moss can help the 5-3 Titans, who are a half-game back in the AFC South with five divisional games remaining. They have not won a playoff game since January 2004, and Fisher said Kenny Britt, who hurt his right hamstring in last week's 33-25 loss to San Diego, will miss the Titans' game Nov. 14 at Miami.

They hope to have Moss in sometime this weekend. The Titans' last practice during their bye week is Thursday, and players won't be due back until Tuesday.

"Randy's excited to get back playing football," said his agent, Joel Segal. "He's ready to go and looking forward to get there."

Moss already is being welcomed.

Safety Michael Griffin tweeted, "welcome Randy Moss," and All-Pro running back Chris Johnson also had been lobbying for the Titans to pick up Moss. Johnson shares the same agent as Moss and had been telling Segal how much he wanted the receiver in Tennessee.

"Why do we need Randy Moss?" Johnson said Wednesday, before the move was announced. "You can't put eight in a box if you got Randy Moss out there on the outside. If you've got Randy Moss out there, you just can't play him one-on-one. I feel like Randy would be a great addition to this team, be a great addition to our receiving group and really help us go deep in the playoffs."

That's what matters most for the Titans.

Owner Bud Adams turns 88 in January, and this franchise's lone Super Bowl berth was way back in 2000. The Titans lost a wild-card playoff game in San Diego in the 2007 season and wasted the No. 1 seed and home-field advantage in 2008 with a divisional-round loss.

Britt has the NFL's best game receiving this season, with 225 yards and three touchdowns in a 37-24 victory Oct. 24 against Philadelphia, and Vince Young is the NFL's top-rated passer at 103.1. But the Tennessee passing offense ranks 24th, averaging 187.6 yards per game.

"Randy is obviously a Hall of Fame player and has the ability to be a difference-maker for our offense," Titans general manager Mike Reinfeldt said.

Nate Washington said before the waiver deadline that he didn't think the Titans needed Moss, defending the team's group of hard-working young receivers. He said Moss would be welcomed, but Washington is the receiver likeliest to slide out of a starting spot once Britt's hamstring heals.

This move will allow the Titans to put the 6-foot-4 Moss on one side with the 6-3 Britt on the other.

"I welcome him with open hands," Britt said. "It's a guy I can learn from, being another receiver ... and he can definitely help with our offense."

Moss is a relative bargain: He's due about $3.34 million for the final eight games this season. He easily brings the best resume of any receiver for this team since it left Houston in 1997. He has 948 career receptions for 14,778 yards and 153 touchdowns, although his numbers have dipped drastically this season in stints with New England and then Minnesota.
Collins played with Moss for a year in Oakland, and he said before the waiver deadline that he never had a problem with the receiver.

"He was professional, respectful -- he was a team guy," Collins said. "I think a lot of the stuff that you see and hear gets overblown. The guy speaks his mind. He's very truthful with what he says, and that doesn't always play well. He was a great teammate."

The Titans placed linebacker Jamie Winborn on injured reserve to clear a roster spot for Moss.

sky sports

A gritty NFC North battle in Chicago starts the NFL Sunday games on Sky Sports, followed by a rare appearance for the St Louis Rams as they chase top spot in the NFC West in San Francisco.

In a day of divisional skirmishes on Sky Sports, Brett Favre heads off to Soldier Field on the back of a career day in terms of yardage last week, as he dragged the Vikings to victory against Arizona.

At 3-5 though, and with the Bears 5-3 after beating Buffalo last week, it's another must-win for the men in purple, but Favre has five TDs and no interceptions in his last two games against Chicago, while star rusher Adrian Peterson is going for a seventh win in a row against their rivals.

Attention then switches over to California, where the 49ers will start Troy Smith at quarterback after his performance at Wembley as they try and get back into the reckoning from 2-6 against the surprising 4-4 Rams.

Number one pick Sam Bradford has been a revelation at quarterback for St Louis but the game could also be settled by the two star running backs on show, with Steven Jackson and Frank Gore as good as anyone in the NFL.

AFC giants
Another huge game in the league is the battle of AFC giants the Steelers and Patriots in Pittsburgh, and although both teams are 6-2 they are in very different moods after the hosts beat Cincinnati on Monday while the Pats suffered a shock defeat at Cleveland.

Tom Brady very rarely loses back-to-back games, only twice in seven seasons in fact, and it will likely be down to him to continue a run of six Pats wins in the last ten meetings with the Steelers having the best run defence in the league.

Pittsburgh have also conceded the fewest points per game in the league, so Brady knows he will be up against it to get New England back on track.

"We took quite a beating from our coach," five-time Pro Bowler Brady said. "(It was) well deserved and we need to start playing better, start playing more the way that we need to in order to execute better.

"We've been winning for a long time; they've been winning for a long time. You win for reasons. We're extremely well coached; they're extremely well coached. We try to be tough and physical; they are certainly very tough and physical."

Cowboy trap
Jason Garrett takes charge of the Dallas Cowboys for the first time as interim head coach, but he faces a tough first real audition for the permanent job as his hapless outfit visit the in-form New York Giants, who have the best winning streak in the league right now after five straight wins.

The AFC South is the tightest in the league, so the game in Jacksonville between the 4-4 Texans and Jaguars is vital for both teams' play-off hopes, and it could turn into a real slugfest with both teams far more comfortable piling up points than trying to stop them.

Randy Moss will make his Tennessee debut as the 5-3 Titans look to take top spot in the AFC South outright, but even if they beat Miami you have to fancy the Colts to beat the Bengals in Indianapolis, with Cincinnati out of the play-off reckoning at 2-6.

The streaking Cleveland Browns face another huge test of their credentials, on the back of beating champions New Orleans and Patriots in back-to-back games, the beast that is running back Peyton Hillis goes up against the hard-hitting Jets.

Something's got to give in Buffalo, as the winless Bills try to avoid going 0-9 against Detroit, who own both the longest winless streaks away from home in NFL history and were the first team to go 0-16 in a season.

Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Ellis Hobbs "very likely" will retire because of a neck injury that he suffered last week, a source with knowledge of the situation said Sunday.

Hobbs is expected to undergo surgery this coming week. Last season, Hobbs missed the final eight games with a neck injury that also required surgery.

Hobbs' agent, Kevin Omell, said Sunday that his client is only concentrating on making it through surgery. Hobbs then will meet with doctors and focus on his future. No decision has been made.

Hobbs left Lincoln Financial Field on a stretcher last Sunday after taking a hit to the helmet on the second-half kickoff during the Eagles' 27-17 victory over the New York Giants. He had full movement of all extremities and gave a thumbs up to the crowd as he was carted off the field.

Hobbs was down for 11 minutes as players from both teams gathered around and the crowd fell silent.

Hobbs, 27, is a six-year NFL veteran who joined the Eagles in a 2009 trade with the New England Patriots. Hobbs has 225 tackles and 10 interceptions in his NFL career.
