Andy Murray just beat Federer and Nadal in straight-sets not long after beating Nalbandian too. I reckon that he's getting the hang of this tennis lark.  clapping

Andy Murray got the perfect vindication of his more attacking style as he beat Roger Federer to retain the Rogers Cup title in a rainy Toronto.

The Briton followed up Saturday's semi-final win over world number one Rafael Nadal with a 7-5 7-5 defeat of 16-time Grand Slam champion Federer.

Murray, 23, held his nerve as Federer fought back from deficits in both sets and rain held up play five times.

The Scot sealed victory in just over two hours for his first title of 2010.

"It's so tough closing out a match againt Roger," Murray said afterwards. "It was incredibly difficult conditions for both of us."

The more aggressive hitting that characterised wins over Nadal and David Nalbandian earlier in the week again played a crucial part as he kept Federer on the move and off balance for much of the final.
