I'm reading The Last Godfather. The life and crimes of Arthur Thompson. It's about a gangster who was born in 1931 and learned his trade during the war as a youg tareaway, and went onto become one of the mose feared people in Glasgow. It is written by Reg McKay.  thumbs up

I'm reading the last book of Bernard Cornwells 'The Grail Quest' Trilogy - 'Heretic' - which is excellent. BC is a great story-teller. Love it.

In my 'In tray' is his first 'Sharpe' novel - 'Sharpes Tiger' and 'The Men Who Stare At Goats' by Jon Ronson. I was halfway through the Barack Obama biog, but it got a bit dull so I put it down. I plan to go through BC's 'Sharpe' books in chronological order.

Recently finished BC's 'Stonehenge' which was great.

I've just started number 11 of the 15 Rebus thrillers from Ian Rankin. Read them all twice before, but still good.

"It's about the blokes, our men and women of the Armed Forces. It's about Derek, a rugby player who has lost both his legs, it's about Carl whose jaw is wired up so he has been drinking through a straw. About Richard who was handed a mobile phone as he lay on the stretcher so he could phone home"

I tell yers what else is good - the 'Emperor' books by Conn Iggulden. Four great novels in a row.

Well good. About Ceasar and Rome and the like. 'Gladiator' fans will love these books, methinks.

Read then in order, if you read them at all. Soz but I can't remember their order at the mo ...

As you may have guessed, I love the epic, ancient war stuff.  thumbs up

Derek Haas - Hunt for The Bear.

Kinda Bourne Identity-ish, quite entertaining.

Must try his previous book "The Silver Bear".  Same lead character but I don't think the books are connected.

Just realised how much I've missed reading. Literature is ok by me.  drink

My fave book of all-time is 'Imajica' by Clive Barker.

Awesome.

If it was a film it would've won 15 oscars.

Buy it, read it, keep it to read again.

'Weaveworld' is also a corker.

Good read that book Jimmy.  thumbs up

If you liked that then read "The Ferris Conspiracy". It's about Glasgow gangster Paul Ferris, Thompsons most feard henchman....   then they have a fall out an it turns into a deadly underworld war. Brilliant read, i've read all his books.

Jimmy Boyle's "A Sence Of Freedom" was fantastic too.

 thumbs up

Read all of the Rebus books again. 1- 15.

then read Yes Man by Danny Wallace - Really interesting and quite funny, if it does seem a far fetched at times.

Just finished 'Raise the Titanic' by Clive Cussler - Fiction, but rumoured to have developed interest in the possibility of diving to the titanic in submersibles - which have since done many times.

Little far fetched, as the Titanic broke in two in real life, whereas in the story it is whole, and is raised as a matter of American national security.

Really interesting read

I'll be getting that one soon. I've read all his other ones and liked them.
