Quote
BBC

Thousands of convicted UK prisoners are to get the right to vote after the European Court of Human Rights ruled the present ban was unlawful.

The government had exhausted all legal avenues fighting the decision made in 2005 and an announcement is expected later this week, sources told the BBC.

Lawyers have said a failure to comply could cost hundreds of millions of pounds in legal costs and compensation.

I fully except that prison is also about rehabilitation but that I'm afraid does not include voting until they come out.

You are sent to prison and lose certain rights, liberty being one, another in my opinion is the right to vote and affect what goes on outside a prison that you are in.

 I Agree

Convicted prisoners should IMO not be allowed to vote. They are behind bars for a reason.

Hopefully they are guilty and not innocent.

Assuming that the law courts have got it right, then the crims have IMO lost the right to vote, as they have lost their liberty, until they've done their porridge.

TBH I'm not really sure on yhis one. As Darlington said, they are doing a crime to have lost all liberties, and maybe being able to vote is one of them. But in saying that, I feel why should they not have the right to vote, especially the ones hwo are just in for a short sentance, and it clashes with voting day  huh
