A Chinese rights group says a teacher who posted pictures on the Internet of schools that collapsed during May's earthquake has been sent to a labour camp for a year.

Human Rights in China says the man has been ordered to serve a year of "re-education through labour" for "disseminating rumours and destroying social order".

Nearly 70,000 people were killed in the massive earthquake in Sichuan province, including thousands of children who died when their poorly built schools collapsed.

The Chinese authorities have been trying to silence parents who have been staging demonstrations to demand an investigation into the standard of the buildings.



I cant believe they got picked to host the Olympics? What the Fuck is wrong with that country? Their human rights record is shocking and they support North Korea in their battle with the rest of the world.

China really has to do something about their human rights policy

Don't know about that, but I know they introduced a 1 child per family quota some time back, don't know if it's still in place mind. If you had more than 1 child, you were taxed at a higher rate, and the woman could very well be sterilized, to stop her having any more.

I saw a show on China last night, Paul Merton was in it. He was in the province that suffered that disastrous earth quake, and said the province was roughly twice the size of Scotland, yet 100 million people lived there
