Leicester City are poised to complete the signing of Japan international Yuki Abe from J-League side Urawa Reds.

The 28-year-old defensive midfielder has told the media in Japan he is on his way to England to seal the deal.

"I believe there is a new challenge waiting for me there and I'm hoping to finalise the move," Abe said.

Abe has 49 caps for Japan and was an ever-present during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, but any deal will be subject to him gaining a work permit.

Could be a good deal for both him and Leicester

He has joined Leicester City from Urawa Red Diamonds. The 28-year-old has been capped 49 times by Japan and his switch came after he was granted a work permit.
