Blackwell leaves Blades

Kevin Blackwell has left his job as Sheffield United manager by mutual consent, the club has announced.

The Blades were beaten 3-0 by QPR on Saturday, conceding three goals in the first 23 minutes as fans at Bramall Lane chanted "Blackwell Out!".

"Following the home defeat to QPR, Sheffield United and Kevin Blackwell have jointly agreed to part company with immediate effect," said the club.

The Blades currently sit 21st in the Championship table after two games.

They began this season with a 1-1 draw at Cardiff City before being dumped out of the Carling Cup by League One Hartlepool on Wednesday.
