Pompey won't have to pay £4million fee to Lens for striker

Sky Sports News understands Lens have granted Portsmouth permission to play Aruna Dindane in their remaining games this season, including the FA Cup final.

Dindane is enjoying a season-long loan at Portsmouth, but one more first-team appearance would trigger a £4million payment to Lens.

His only outing in the past month was in the FA Cup semi-final against Tottenham Hotspur as he played his role in helping Pompey win 2-0 to set up a return trip to face Chelsea in the final next month.

Pompey have been holding talks with Lens in an attempt to reach a compromise deal and Dindane is understood to have travelled to France to discuss the situation on Monday.

Avram Grant had questioned the logic of Lens' reluctance to renegotiate the terms of the deal, with Dindane tipped to leave the French club on a permanent basis in the summer.

And it now appears that Pompey boss Grant will have the Ivory Coast striker available for the remaining three Premier League games of the season and the Wembley showpiece against Chelsea.

Dindane has scored seven goals in 21 appearances during his time at Fratton Park and could return to the Premier League next season.

Blackburn Rovers tried to sign the 29-year-old in the January transfer window and reports claim he underwent a medical at Ewood Park a fortnight ago.

Newcastle United, who have won promotion back to the top flight, have also been linked with a move for Dindane, while Greek giants Panathinaikos are interested in a deal.

I've heard conflicting reports on this.

Some say that he's cleared to play and some not.  huh
