Newport County have placed three players on the transfer market to address the club's financial position.
Strikers Craig McAllister and Tom Miller and goalkeeper Danny Potter have all been put up for sale by the Blue Square Bet Premier strugglers.
"The budget has to be reduced. Overheads have to be cut... quickly," County chairman Chris Blight admitted.
"Although money has to be found for new players, we have to make decisions on the effectiveness of our squad."
Newport, who have lost their last three league games, are currently just one place off the relegation zone and outside the bottom four on goal difference.
Manager Justin Edinburgh said after their 3-2 defeat at bottom club Bath City that "a lot of players have come here in the summer and some, not all, have not lived up to expectations".
Edinburgh now hopes to offload three players so the County boss can sign fresh faces in the January transfer window.
"We have got through the first half of the season, but we need to address the second half - now," added Blight, in a club newsletter.
"We have to increase income by better form and pulling the crowds back.
"With this in mind, our manager is very busily looking for new blood, and although Nat Jarvis is the only signed new player, others are advanced in negotiation.
"Remember that all clubs are out there doing exactly the same - it is not easy, but hopefully, good news will arrive in the next few days.
"To this end... our manager has placed Craig McAllister, Danny Potter and Tom Miller onto the transfer market with immediate effect. The budget has to be reduced."
