Darlington midfielder Paul Terry will miss the rest of the Blue Square Bet Premier season after suffering a cruciate ligament injury.

The 31-year-old limped off after eight minutes of the club's 1-0 home defeat by Hayes and Yeading on Saturday.

"He's done his cruciate, he's out for the rest of the season," Darlington boss Mark Cooper told BBC Tees.

Terry joined the Quakers in August following his release by divisional rivals Rushden & Diamonds.

The former Leyton Orient and Yeovil player, brother of Chelsea and England defender John, has made 364 league appearances during his career, scoring 27 goals and has made 15 starts for the Quakers this term.

Meanwhile Cooper has reiterated he will not walk away from his post as Darlington manager despite the weekend's loss, the club's third in a row.

The former Tamworth and Kettering boss was the subject of crowd rumours relating to his departure during Saturday's game.

"As far as I'm concerned I haven't heard anything from the chairman, as far as I'm concerned I'm still the manager," Cooper continued.

Darlington are 14th in Blue Square Bet Premier, 14 points behind leaders Crawley Town.

I don't know about luck, we need the team to believe in themselves and start playing like they know they can.

Same down here. HFC beat Alty and Utd got a good point at Fleetwood. Mibbies they will start 'believing' now ...

It's a pity, I hope he recovers well
