Stoke manager Tony Pulis has advocated the introduction of a relegation system for referees to stop poor decisions.

Pulis was angry Stoke were denied a penalty on Saturday when Sunderland's Lee Cattermole appeared to handle Kenwyne Jones' header on the goal-line.

And he told BBC Radio 5 live: "Every club should have one vote [annually] and mark referees after every game.

"Then they have a chance of being relegated to the Championship. It would be a great system."

Pulis said that after the game at the Stadium of Light, which Stoke lost 2-0, his players were totally despondent after they felt they were on the wrong end of another example of bad refereeing.

During Stoke's previous Premier League game against Everton, which the Potters lost 1-0, Tuncay had a goal disallowed for a push on Leighton Baines with the score at 0-0 - a decision Pulis, at the time, called "very, very poor"

Ha Ha Pullis.

I dislike him so much.

There is a ranking system already. We often see referees demoted to the lower leagues once they have had a poor game. This is done there and then, and not at the end of the season. Over a season, things even themsleves out.

In saying that, referees would do themselves more justice if they done an after match interview. The referee in the Stoke / Sunderland game may just not have seen it. It is possible. I can see why the referee gave the foul on Baines last week, although Baines was going down (or off balance) before Tuncay made contact. Clattenburg could have done himself a favour if he was interviewed after the Man Utd / 49'ers game.

GRAHAM POLL has backed Tony Pulis' claim that big clubs get the big refereeing decisions in their favour.
And the former World Cup and Premier League whistler has sensationally admitted he used to give ex-Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo special treatment.

Poll's comments come after Stoke boss Pulis accused officials of bias following ref Andre Marriner's bizarre decision not to show United defender Gary Neville a second yellow in Sunday's clash at the Britannia.

Poll said: "When you are refereeing big games you have to treat everyone in a similar way, but you also have to be aware of players.

"Say when Cristiano Ronaldo was playing for Manchester United. You know how volatile he is, the merest of touches he's over and so you give a free-kick to keep control of the match, the player and occasion.

"A different player might prefer to play on and ride that challenge, so what you're doing is, you're adapting according to the player and circumstances.

"That's not saying I'm favouring Ronaldo, he'll get more free-kicks from me.

"It's saying, I'll do what I think is appropriate to manage that player and that match."

His argument does not make sense.
He needs to say that he would not give Ronaldo the decisions if he was playing for Stoke.
