Everton's David Moyes has been named as the League Managers' Association's manager of the year for the third time.

The Scot, who guided the Toffees to fifth in the Premier League as well as the FA Cup final, has twice previously won the award in 2003 and 2005.

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson won the LMA Special Merit Award for his success this season.

Son Darren, Peterborough boss, won the League One title and Wolves boss Mick McCarthy took the Championship prize.

Brentford's Andy Scott was named as the League Two manager of the year after guiding the west London club to promotion.

Moyes's third win means he has achieved a feat even compatriot Ferguson has yet to achieve.

The former Preston boss, who moved to Goodison Park in March 2002, has guided Everton into the inaugural Europa League next season despite a relatively limited transfer budget.

"Since joining Everton, David has not only transformed the club's fortunes, he has also created a huge fan base, including many of his fellow managers," said LMA chairman Howard Wilkinson.

"With only modest financial backing he has shown what can be achieved through discipline, dedication and an innate ability to get the best out of every player."

Ferguson, unable to attend the ceremony in Nottingham as he prepares for the Champions League final against Barcelona in Rome, was also named as the Barclays Premier League manager of the year.

Fully deserved if you ask me  clapping

I reckon Roy H. should've got it. Took Fulham from almost-down to Europa.
