Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson has warned Manchester United that goalkeeper Pepe Reina is not for sale.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has been linked with the 28-year-old Spaniard, while Arsenal have been mentioned as potential suitors in the past.

"If Ferguson is looking around and has lots of money, he might want Pepe Reina because he is the best around," Hodgson told the Liverpool Echo.

"But we do not want to sell him. He is a lifeblood of this team."

Reina joined Liverpool from Villarreal for £6m in July 2005 and has made 271 appearances in his five seasons at Anfield.

He signed a new six-year contract in April but after the cash-strapped Reds failed to qualify for the Champions League and Rafael Benitez was sacked as manager, the keeper was linked with a £23m move to Arsenal.

Would be a blow to lose both Pepe Reina and Fernando Torres if one had to go i think it would have to be Torres. Torres could get replaced but we could`nt get a replacement for a goalkeeper of Pepe Reina`s class
